VSEVOLOD CHENTSOV
Vsevolod Chentsov is the Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community, appointed to this position by President Volodymyr Zelensky on 25 August 2021. His diplomatic career includes serving as Ukraine's Ambassador to the Netherlands and the Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons from 2017 to 2021. Chentsov started his work in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in 1996, engaging in various roles, including in Ukrainian missions in Turkey and Poland, and as the director of the EU department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. He is an alumnus of Lviv University.
Chentsov plays a crucial role in representing Ukraine's interests in the European Union, particularly amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia. He has been at the forefront of discussions on military aid to Ukraine, ensuring that the country receives only the weapons and ammunition it declares as a priority. His efforts have contributed to the EU's decision to provide significant military aid to Ukraine, including one million artillery rounds, as part of the European Peace Fund's initiatives. Chentsov emphasizes the importance of quick and effective support from EU member states to defend against Russian aggression.
In addition to military aid, Chentsov is also actively involved in advocating for Ukraine's integration into the European Union. He has been working with European institutions and member states to gain broad international support for President Zelensky's peace plan, which aims to provide Ukraine with defense capabilities to prevent future military aggression from Russia. Chentsov's work is pivotal in advancing Ukraine's aspirations for EU membership, with efforts focused on implementing the European Commission's recommendations and legislative changes necessary for Ukraine's integration into the EU.
