ROMAN PETROV
Prof. Dr. Roman Petrov is a distinguished legal scholar specializing in EU Law, serving as a professor at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. He is also a Jean Monnet Chair in EU Law and the Head of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in European Studies. Prof. Petrov's academic journey includes obtaining his PhD from Queen Mary University of London under the supervision of Prof. Marise Cremona, and he has conducted post-doctoral research as a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.
His expertise extends to various areas, including EU Law, EU External Relations Law, Approximation and Harmonisation of Legislation of Third Countries with the EU acquis, Legal Aspects of Regional Integration in the Post-Soviet Area, and Non-Recognised Entities in EU Law and International Law. Prof. Petrov's significant contributions include being one of the first to author a Ukrainian textbook on EU Law and founding the Ukrainian European Studies Association.
In addition to his academic achievements, Prof. Petrov is actively engaged in providing consultancy to state institutions in Ukraine, including the Parliament of Ukraine and the Ministry of Justice. He is recognized as an expert in EU Law at the European Parliament and the Secretariat of the Energy Community. His extensive research and teaching experience have made him a prominent figure in the field of EU external relations law, contributing significantly to the understanding of EU law and its application in Ukraine and the broader region.
